Polarwool

Polarwool® insulation is made exclusively from virgin wool, with no recycled materials to ensure that its characteristics remain unchanged over time. The natural wool is processed to trasform it into insulating felt.

In the first phase of processing the wool is thoroughly washed using modern industrial machines to degrease it and completely eliminate impurities. Only neutral biodegradable soaps are used for this purpose. In a second processing phase the wool is treated in compliance with applicable legislation and standards to resist attack by mould, mites and moths. This is done using a bath process rather than by spraying to ensure that the treatment is permanent and uniform throughout the wool fibres. Finally, special textile machinery is used to compact the wool into a ready to use felt. No chemical bonding agents are added

Wool does not burn easily. It not only limits the spread of fire but actively contributes to  extinguishing it, the unburned part of the wool cooling rapidly and suffocating the flames. The fumes emitted by burning wool are also non-toxic. Very high temperatures of around 560°C must be reached before wool is subject to spontaneous combustion. Nevertheless, if required by specific regulations, Polarwool can also be treated with a flame retardant to improve its fire resistant qualities even further.
